Lake County Beekeepers Club of Florida is a growing organization. Our mission is to provide resources to promote successful beekeeping using proven techniques and procedures in the management of honeybees and to share this knowledge with anyone interested. The Club meetings are held every first Thursday of the month at the Lake County Extension office, 1951 Woodlea Rd, Tavares, FL 32778. Here we give advice and information regarding hive management, advice for both the new and seasoned beekeeper and much more! We participate in community events and have club power buys quarterly in order to save money for our members on beekeeping supplies. The club has hives and members are invited to work with them on a monthly basis to gain experience in beekeeping
We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm at Seminole County UF/IFAS extension service office located at:
250 W County Home Road, Sanford, FL 32773

Our Beginning Beekeeping Class will cover your first year as a beekeeper, taking you through installing your 5 frame Nuc into your 8 or 10 frame hive body, feeding it, weekly inspections, and adding a super. The class will run from 9 am to 3 pm and will include a copy of The Backyard Beekeeper, as well as a catered lunch. The first half of the class will be in-classroom study and Q&A with a power point presentation. After lunch we will suit up and head outside for a practical, hands-on approach to learning. During this outside portion of the class you are urged be as involved, or as removed, as you wish to be depending on your personal comfort level. Attendees are encouraged to bring any personal protective wear (hat, veil, gloves, suit, or jacket) that they may own. For those who may not yet own any protective wear, we do have loaner equipment available. Call the office to register- 352-669-4233
